Our Mission
Why We Exist
The Golden Roots Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Armenia's cultural heritage, strengthening communities, and improving the quality of life for present and future generations.
We believe that a nation's heritage lives not only in its ancient monasteries, historic landmarks, and cultural treasures, but also in its people, traditions, craftsmanship, language, and shared values. Our mission is to protect this legacy while creating opportunities for communities to thrive.
By bringing together philanthropy, innovation, volunteers, professionals, businesses, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and the Armenian diaspora, we support initiatives that preserve our past, enrich lives today, and build a stronger future.
Our vision is an Armenia where heritage is carefully protected, communities are vibrant and connected, every generation supports one another, and cultural identity continues to inspire future generations around the world.
Our Programs
Six Programs
Our founding charter sets out eight interconnected areas of activity. We deliver them through the six programs below.

Generations Together
Strengthening the connection between generations by ensuring that no elderly person is left isolated or forgotten.
Through a community-driven platform, we connect elderly individuals with volunteers, students, caregivers, healthcare professionals, local businesses, and service providers who can offer companionship, practical assistance, and professional support.
Projects within this program include:
- Volunteer companionship
- Grocery and daily assistance
- Transportation support
- Home assistance
- Nursing and wellness services
- Educational and cultural activities
- Community engagement initiatives

Heritage Preservation & Restoration
Protecting Armenia's historical and cultural legacy through the restoration, conservation, and sustainable management of important heritage sites.
We identify, finance, and oversee restoration projects to ensure that cultural landmarks remain structurally sound, historically authentic, and accessible to future generations.
Projects may include:
- Churches and monasteries
- Historical monuments
- Memorials
- Museums
- Cultural landmarks
- Historic public buildings
- Archaeological and architectural heritage
This program also supports vocational training, apprenticeships, traditional craftsmanship, research, and innovative restoration technologies that improve the quality, sustainability, and long-term preservation of Armenia's cultural heritage.

Community Spaces & Urban Development
Creating healthier, happier, and more inclusive cities by investing in public spaces that bring people together.
This program includes ZVART PROGRAM, a collaborative urban transformation initiative led by the Golden Roots Heritage Foundation together with our partner organizations. Through this partnership, we design, fund, and deliver high-quality public spaces that improve everyday life and strengthen local communities.
Projects include:
- Parks

- Urban squares
- Sports facilities

- Recreational spaces
- Cultural and educational outdoor spaces
- Public art installations
- Inclusive public infrastructure

Traditional Crafts, Education & Innovation
Preserving Armenia's traditional knowledge while encouraging innovation for the future.
This program establishes vocational training centres, apprenticeship programs, and educational initiatives that preserve traditional crafts, teach heritage restoration techniques, and create sustainable employment opportunities for future generations.
It also provides grants and support for:
- Craftspeople
- Conservators
- Researchers
- Universities
- Technology innovators
- Restoration specialists
By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies, we help make heritage preservation more effective, sustainable, and accessible.

Culture Without Borders
Connecting Armenians around the world through culture, education, and shared heritage.
This program strengthens relationships between Armenia and the global Armenian diaspora while expanding access to Armenian culture, language, traditions, and history.
Initiatives include:
- Cultural exchange programs
- Diaspora collaboration
- Educational initiatives
- Heritage events
- Charitable cultural and historical tours for elderly persons living alone, vulnerable families, people with disabilities, and other underserved groups
- International partnerships that promote Armenian heritage worldwide

Humanitarian & Community Support
Providing assistance during times of hardship while helping vulnerable members of society live with dignity.
The Foundation supports humanitarian initiatives for individuals and communities affected by poverty, social isolation, armed conflict, or natural disasters.
Projects may include:
- Emergency relief
- Community assistance
- Support for displaced families
- Recovery after natural disasters
- Assistance for vulnerable individuals
- Community resilience initiatives
We believe compassion is one of the greatest expressions of our shared heritage.

Impact Through Collaboration

Golden Roots Heritage Foundation believes that meaningful and lasting impact is achieved through collaboration.

We bring together donors, volunteers, experts, municipalities, educational institutions, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and international partners to identify community needs and deliver sustainable, high-impact initiatives.

Some programs and projects are developed and implemented directly by the Foundation, while others are carried out in partnership with organizations that share our vision and values. ZVART PROGRAM is one such collaborative initiative, bringing together Golden Roots Heritage Foundation and its partners to transform public spaces and strengthen communities across Armenia.

Contributors may choose to support a specific program or project that aligns with their interests, or make unrestricted donations that allow the Foundation to invest where resources can create the greatest long-term impact.
